Back in India, I worked in the healthcare industry for a couple of years. I installed and maintained angiography equipment for a biomedical company. Later on, I worked at a remote Fab Lab called Vigyan Ashram ( http://vigyanashram.com/ ). in rural settings. This organisation is a link between rural India and the Academia. After 9 months working with Vigyan Ashram near Pune, a typical Indian rural area in the vicinity of a metro city, I noticed the lack of basic human need & healthcare facilities.
Having worked with my father, a bio-medical engineer by profession who runs a small medical imaging equipment business, I understand the need of high capital which is required to operate hospitals and equipment
Combining these experiences, I realised the necessity of Point of Care solutions in Lifestyle & Healthcare. There is a great demand for affordable healthcare & lifestyle needs in most countries around the world. As we speak inhabitants of rural India need to travel to cities to receive medical help. Most of the hospitals in these cities have equipment which are too expensive for small hospitals and clinics serving the rural population.
HelloHealth aims to do just that: deliver cheap equipment for basic healthcare needs for rural areas, by building with common components and materials.
The project has already developed 4 tools and is at the start of its adoption in the real world. The project started as a masters thesis in FabLab Barcelona.
