If you're fidgety, like me, you touch your face quite a lot throughout the day. Simply saying "Don't touch your face!" is not helpful, if I was conscious of the behavior I could stop it. The idea here is to create a device that makes one aware that they are about to touch their face.
To that end I've ordered two IR gates and two haptic devices from Adafruit:
IR Break Beam Sensor - 3mm LEDs
IdeaStep1: Attach small IR transmitters to the front outside corner of a pair of glasses
Step2: Attach a small IR receiver to two bracelets and orient them to face outward on the inside corner on each wrist.
Step3: Calibrate the IR gate to trigger when your hand is close to your face while wearing the glasses and bracelet.
Step4: Set the IR gate signal to trigger a haptic feedback device to let you know when your hand is approaching your face.
Prototype - Decontamination BoxThis decontamination box is quite simple. It uses a cheep ozone generator and an air pump to flush ozone throughout the box. I wasn't sure if this setup would perform and had considered buying an ozone sensor to verify ozone levels. However, I do know ozone attacks natural rubber and over time breaks it down. I found that having this box on for an hour would disintegrate rubber gloves (Obvious caveat: Don't put natural rubber or other ozone sensitive materials in the box).
The power is simply run through a hole in the box which I potted with epoxy to retain the seal.
