Ok, let me tell you my story. My bathroom has a pretty long distance from my water heating system that way when I open the shower tap it takes about 1-2 minute to have a pleasant water for showering and it was very sad watching that water is wasting with no use. I thought I really have to do something about this.
I decided to collect this water and use it to water my garden. but there was a more sophisticated problem, I'm so lazy and couldn't convince myself to go all the stairs down to my garden and do this job, So I come up with the idea of auto watering system. I will explain how I designed this simple but very handy system to make the life a better place :)
First I collect the cold water from my shower to a container. then I transfer the collected water to my balcony where I have put my automatic watering system.
My auto watering system consists of :
- a plastic container
- one 12V water pump
- two floater switchs
- one push-button
- two 12V relays
I used CircuitLabs to draw the schematic (Floaters are installed in opposite directions, that's why the LOW level disconnects the circuit when the container is empty):
Below image shows the inside structure of this system:
As you can see there are two floater switches that indicates the level of the water in the container. The mechanism is so easy and straightforward. The high level floater switch will trigger the water pump and the low level switch stops it! There is also a push-button to manually trigger the system.
The hard work about this project was the piping from my balcony to my garden. I have used a clear pipe and tried to choose a hidden pathway for the pipe in order to prevent all those pipes make my building look bad.
I have also used some valves in the way of those pipes to control the pressure of the water.
I put some small holes at the end of the pipes in the garden beside each tree, so the water can reach the garden through this holes.
Now I can take shower with a more relaxed mind and a more beautiful garden :). BTW here is my garden:
There must be some creative ideas that can be added to this system. I happily appreciate any suggestion.
PS: A huge excuse for my bad English and funny grammatical mistakes.
