The deadlifting exercise is a common source of body injury. Previous studies have found injury incidence and prevalence among sub-elite to elite lifters to be 12%–31%, meaning that percent injuries are from deadlifting.
Our device was meant to be an app that tracks body and hip movement using a gyrometer/acceleratorometer to encourage good deadlifting posture. Our original goal was to make a worn device that notified when the wearer's body was out of position or had an angular velocity that is abnormal for the exercise.
The user is able to begin the application using Google Cloud Voice-to-Text. The gyroscope and accelerometer ensure that each rep of the exercise is performed with a proper position and speed to avoid injury. This project has so many different possible extensions; it could one day also include:
-A Fitness guide (which gives you new exercises)
-A Warmup generator (gives you stretches to avoid and treat injuries)
-Your Stretching progress (so that you can see your flexibility progress)
-And include competitive elements between friends
