Overview
The XKCDView app allows you to view XKCD comics on your phone. When you open the app, you are presented with the current comic, the title of the comic, a related image pulled from Flickr, and at the bottom of the screen, the buttons “next, “prev”, “random”. Pressing “next” will allow you to go to the next comic. Tapping “prev” will take you to the previous comic that you saw. However, when you first open the app you're on the current comic and have not seen any other comics yet so the word “prev” on the “prev button is colored grey like the button to indicate that tapping it will not do anything. The buttons that you can press have labels colored white. While the user may not initially make this connection, pressing the “prev” button and seeing no change on the screen should prompt the user to try “random” or ‘next”. After the user is directed to the next comic, the “prev” label will turn white. The “random” button will direct the user to a random comic and “next” will direct the user to the next comic pulled from the XKCD website, which you can click on until you reach the first, or "last", comic, Barrel Part 1. This comic's "next" label is grey to indicate that you've reached the end.
Images are pulled from Flickr using the comic's title. The app chooses a random image and it can change whenever you go back to the same comic. If there are no related images, the XKCD logo is shown where the image is supposed to be. I choose to keep everything on the same screen so that everything is visible at once and there are is no need for extra clicks to see anything.
