As someone who spends a good deal of time behind a screen, I have been told countless times that it's bad for my eyes. Now this has never phased me even the smallest bit as my eyesight is pretty much as bad as it gets, but recently I read that the same lighting issues that damage your eyes also cause images to be displayed inaccurately. Nevertheless, your eyes are certainly one of the most important parts of the human body and are put to best use when they aren't being deceived by improper lighting. To fix this I have created an ambient lighting system for laptops, monitors, and even full size televisions. LED lighting is very versatile in the type of light it produces. The C Life bulb possesses desirable attributes for both viewing and eye protection.
CRIA color rendering index (CRI) is a quantitative measure of the ability of a light source to reveal the colors of various objects faithfully in comparison with an ideal or natural light source (trust me on this one, I looked it up on Wikipedia). Light sources that provide light with a CRI of 90 or higher (like the C Life bulb at 90 exact) are considered excellent for color accuracy. Many LED and fluorescent bulbs suffer from lower CRI ratings, with values commonly at 62. This makes the C Life a somewhat rare low energy solution to color purity. It is important to note that traditional incandescent bulbs and natural light are CRI 100. Unfortunately, incandescent bulbs are energy inefficient and generate high amounts of heat, making them unideal for contact with computers or displays. Both of these sources also have been found to be too intense, and therefore strenuous when viewing monitors.
TempuratureLED bulbs do generate very little heat, but that's not even the best part. C Life outputs warm light. This means there is more of the reds and oranges and less of the harmful blue light associated with conventional displays. C Sleep can also be configured to output warm light making it a viable option.
AngleDirect light from coming from straight in front of or straight behind monitors causes a lack of contrast. This forces your eyes to struggle when focusing and is not a healthy practice. On the other hand, ambient lighting can do the opposite, improving contrast and relaxing your eyes. For this reason, C Right positions the lights canted outwards and away from the monitor.
BrightnessJust as the temperature, angle, and CRI of light can affect your vision, the brightness of light can damage photoreceptors in the eye or leave your body working long and hard to collect information. Neither of this situations is ideal. To fix this, C Right replaces the normal lighting of your work/viewing area with software tuned output. This is made easy by Bluetooth connectivity for manual control or automatic sensor based adjustments that fine tune the experience of watching.
DesignC Right is simply a fixture for C by GE bulbs or other LED lighting. It comes in the form of a mount or a desktop accessory, allowing use on displays far above any surface (like TVs) without blocking any of the light. The desktop version is easily movable for on the go adjustment and use as a normal lamp. The mount form of C Right is attached to the bezel of your display and provides the same high quality light.
