a very cheap ARM Cortex-M0 mcu. 48Mhz, 32KB flash and 4KB ram. plus many feature rich peripherals. that's not a lot, but just enough to beat atmega328 by higher features and a fraction of the price.
the infamous USB to Serial Converter needs no introduction
Texas Instruments ULN2003
an old, but trusty 7 channel darlington array.
Texas Instruments LP2951
a real low dropout linear regulator.

Labcenter electronics, Proteus

Hand tools and fabrication machines

Solder grease
the perfect soldering flux. a very thin layer on a pad is enough to make soldering fun.

it's the whole schematic. a bit messy it seems, but if you take a minute looking at it, it's all straightforward. the packaging for resistors/caps are 0805.
