OverviewThis is a case for a Pi Zero and the excellent IQAudio Pi DAC Zero sound board. This setup uses the Volumio media server, which allows easy configuration and control of the sound board and your music.
The small size allows you to to take your music with you. The device shown is not truly "portable" - it's not battery powered. But wall-powered, it can output to headphones or speakers ("RCA" jacks). The standard install of Volumio allows you to control your music from phone/or tablet via a WiFi access point setup by Volumio, or you can use it network-attached. You can store a lot of your own music locally on a 128GB micro SD card, shared with the Volumio installation.
- Mount 1x M2.5/9mm standoff on post closest to USB power input, for later attachment to PI dac
- Use 3x M2.5/3mm machine screws to mount the Pi Zero. Pi Zero must have male headers
- Mount 3x M2.5/12mm standoffs from Pi DAC to Headphone Amp
- Carefully mount the Pi DAC female headers on the mounted pi zero male headers
- Slide case over bottom, and push down starting at RCA Connector (red/white jacks), then make sure all sides are pressed down firmly.
Volumio has a full set of instructions to get you going. After installation, go to Setings/Playback Options. Choose IQAudio DAC Plus as the Output Device from the pull-down menu. Reboot and enjoy!
