Police walkie-talkie: This application works similarly to a normal walkie talkie except you talk into your wrist instead of over your shoulder or down at your waist.
Glucose meter: This application may be more painful than your standard app. Using a needle mod, this application reads your insulin levels and injects you as necessary when it detects a rapid depletion of blood sugar. Don’t show the police, or they’ll think you’re doing drugs!
Pager alert: Remember those little beepers that received text and voice messages that give you so much nostalgia? Well, now it’s back in the form of a watch. Sure you can use notifications, but with this app and its retro interface design you get the old school experience as well.

Toq Weight Trainer
Ever go to the gym and wish you had a way to time yourself or schedule your entire workout? How about wishing you had a personal trainer? When the Toq Weight Trainer hopes to fix that. When at the gym, it’s really hard to hold your phone: 1) because it’s fragile and 2) because it would get in the way. Before you go to the gym, just select the workout you want to do and leave your phone at home. Snap on your watch and head off to the gym. When you get there hit start and follow the card by card instruction and timer. Get your perfect workout without worrying about a giant phone.
Project Description:
Our target user group would be those that make frequent trips to the gym or those that just want to get a better workout. A lot of people already wear fitbits to monitor their steps, calorie count, etc. Having a watch would just increase the functionality of a wearable. We’ve also seen a lot of people wearing iPhone armbands at the gym but they are awkwardly straining their necks to look at their phone or play/pause their workout.
Problem Description & Context:
Problem: A frequent gym visitor wants to up their workout game. He/she reads and plans out a complex routine to follow before heading. Before heading out he/she realizes bringing a phone would be a bad idea. Heavy weights and sweat just don’t sound good for a phone. The main question is how do you set a timer for all the routines and memorize the routines. There’s a clock on the wall but sometimes it’s just hard to see. And bringing a piece of paper is just a hassle to maintain clean and unripped. The gym is also an easy place to get your belongings stolen. There are way too many stories of stolen artifacts at the gym. As said before, there are armbands to carry your phone but it just seems like a response to a problem and not a full fix.
Why is a mobile app a good solution for the problem?
A mobile app is good because a mobile device would be small. No one wants to bring their laptop to the gym to follow instructions or videos. A mobile device could just slip into your backpack or into your pocket but a desktop or web application would take away a free hand and take away from the exercise.
Why is a smart watch a good solution for the problem?
A smart watch is a good solution because it’s attached to your wrist and easily readable, not like an armband. It also has the ability to vibrate for timers so you don’t have to look at the device constantly to know when your routine is finished. It’s just a lot easier to carry to the gym too because it wouldn’t be easily stolen.
