I recently got my hands on Seeed Studio's exciting new ReSpeaker XMOS XVF3800 with the XIAO ESP32S3, a compact yet powerful AI-powered 4-microphone array.
The primary goal of this project was to explore and experience the "Direction of Arrival" (DoA) functionality of the microphone array, and to create a simple but fun voice-controlled application that would allow me to play music just by issuing a voice command.
The idea of using a microphone array to pinpoint the direction of sound and trigger specific actions—like playing music—felt like a perfect way to dive into the capabilities of the ReSpeaker XMOS XVF3800.
