About Solar You
Solar You is a simple, efficient app to convert your age on one planet to all other planets. You start off by selecting your home planet. You then enter in your age in years (must be a positive number) on that planet. Afterward, you hit 'Calculate' and the app will determine your age in years on Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
The user interface of the app is made from a series of TextViews, RadioButtons, EditTexts, and Buttons. I chose a blue, orange and white color scheme to provide a more space-ey, solar system-ey feel. I purposefully used orange for the years to make them stand out for the user.
This app will look beautiful in both portrait and landscape mode.
In terms of calculations, I do them by keeping track of which RadioButton is selected. When 'Calculate' is pressed, I use the corresponding conversion value and the age entered to calculate the number of Earth days it corresponds to. I then convert this number of Earth days back into years for all of the respective planets using the conversion factors. I have rounded all values to 2 decimal places -- I believe there will be no need for a user to know more than that.
