My project is about making life's day to day flow easy and worry free. I decided to make so I can win a contest in NYC too! My girlfriend is currently competing in the legendary Apollo theaters amateur night competition. Lol.
This a rough sketch of the prototype room! There are several devices that communicate with themselves. Basicslly every household appliance that is plugged into the wall will be able to communicate wirelessly via wifi, blue tooth or VLC(visible light communication). As long as that appliance has the appropriate receptors. The broadcast signals will come from either the C by GE lamp or a basic wifi router. Just to get the engines churning, please allow me to list the below appliances and explain scenarios in which the system will work for operator, saving them the hassle of doing it themself.
-smart washer
-smart dryer
-robotic laundry basket
-smart oven
-smart microwave
-smart refrigerator/freezer
-smart wall plug
-smart coffe maker
-smart toaster
-smart stereo
-C by GE Smart Bulb
-smart dishwasher
smart= internet access via wif, Bluetooth, or VLC
Ok lets start with the Room Service laundry mechanism. User puts laundry in washer, sets wash program via app, leaves...comes back shortly to a stack of clean folded clothing. How? Well once the laundry is finished washing, a robotic laundry baskets shifts the clothing from the washer into the dryer. Dries the clothing, then folds.
Let's move on to Room Service food preparation techniques. It's 6 pm. Momma bear has had a un usually long day and papa bear is working even longer. Once she pick the Cubs up from extended day at school, she choice.... feed them crap fast food or finally start cooking the casserole that was prepared the night before. The only problem is the casserole takes 3 hours. . That's where the smart fridge and oven come in to play. The casserole that was prepared the night before will slide into the oven from the fridge via a trap door at 3 pm by smart phone app command. And voilà, the casserole is ready to eat upon arrival. Mind you, the oven and fridge would have to be positioned next to each other.
The possibilities are endless, but let's go over one more example. John lives on a bi level home with a large staircase. Every morning he wakes up and walks down stairs to the kitchen and turns on the coffe machine. All groggy and stuff that takes all of 5 to 7 minutes everyday. By smart phone app command, he starts the coffe machine the moment he wakes up, and has an extra 5 to 7 minutes each to day to read the paper and relax before heading off to work.
In addition, there are more amazing features to explore with Room Service. Such as zonal occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting capabilities, and audio sensors. Designed for ease of access as well as minimizing energy usage.
We'll that's my story, hope you like.
