On the device side, I have two pins that sense the amount of food currently in the bowl as well as the weight of the pet. For the project, if the food level is < 0.5 I consider the bowl empty and if the food level is >= 0.5 I consider the bowl full. On the companion app, there are two buttons in which I am able to get the food level and weight from the device after i click them. When getting the weight from the device, the companion app tells me how food it will my feed my pet everyday in an automatic sense. I am also able to feed to the pet manually with the last button on the companion app that says FEED MY PET and then then UI changes in the app to tell me that I have successfully fed my pet.
