Developing a remote controlled robot is no longer hard or difficult, and this project provides the needed information to build one with minimal expertise.
The control scheme is an important part of the design, so I decided to opt for an arrow key style control system, with a speed slider beneath them. An emergency stop button is also located on the board, directly below a display which the Arduino can send text based messages to it. Here is a screenshot of my setup.
