M5Stack has announced the launch of a programmable power supply, built around an STMicroelectronics STM32 processor and capable of delivering a sustained 100W from 0.5V up to 30V — and boasts piggyback compatibility with the company's Core series of development boards.

"PPS Module 13.2 is a programmable power supply module," M5Stack writes of its latest creation, brought to our attention by CNX Software. "This module employs step-down buck technology, supports a wide DC 9-36V input voltage, and integrates an [STMicro] STM32 control processor and [Analog Devices] AD8418 high-resolution current amplifier."

The compact power supply takes its input on a barrel-jack connector, with its output capabilities limited by what it's fed: using a step-down design, it can only deliver voltages below what it receives, meaning anyone hoping to hit the full 30V output will need a >30V input supply. The power supply is rated, the company says, at 100W sustained and 150W peak output, and can be programmed to deliver from 0.5V up to 30V on a pair of banana sockets.

The board's programmable capabilities are brought out to a pin header on one side, designed for compatibility with the company's Core, Core2, and CoreS3 development boards. Electrical isolation, meanwhile, is included for the power supply and communication bus. "This module is suitable for use in scientific research experiments, industrial automation, embedded system development, and DIY projects requiring an adjustable power supply," M5Stack claims, promising a read-back accuracy of ±30mV/5mA.

The PPS Module 13.2 is now available to order on the M5Stack store for $24.50.
