AMD's First "Cost-Optimized" Spartan UltraScale+ FPGA Parts Hit Volume Production
The smallest models in the family — SU10P, SU25P, and SU35P — are rolling off production lines now, AMD says.
AMD has announced volume production of its first Spartan UltraScale+ "cost-optimized" field-programmable gate arrays, the SU10P, SU25P, and SU35P — offering up to 36k logic cells and 2.91Mb of on-chip memory.
"Engineers looking for cost-optimized, compact FPGAs also want simplicity and a fast time to market," says AMD's Rob Bauer in support of the launch. "They need programmable logic, high I/O [Input/Output], robust security, and world-class reliability. They also need tools that deliver push-button timing closure and rapid debug capabilities. Above all, they need a low-risk path to market. Built by the industry leader using proven UltraScale+ technology, Spartan UltraScale+ FPGAs deliver exactly that."
While the planned Spartan UltraScale+ range covers a total of nine parts, topping out at the SU200P as the largest model, AMD has only begun volume production of the smallest three. The SU10P, the smallest model, comes with 11k logic cells and 1.77Mb of on-chip memory; the SU25P goes up to 22k logic cells and 1.84Mb of on-chip memory' and the SU35P, the largest yet available in volume production, offers 36k logic cells and 1.93Mb of on-chip memory.
All three parts share the same package, and come with maximum total input/output pin count of 304 — with those needing more having to wait for the larger SU50P, at 388 pins, or its still-bigger stablemates to reach general availability. None of the three models include any hard IP, PCI Express connectivity, nor UltraScale+ GTH transceivers, features reserved for the SU55P and up.
