Car LED Interior light

The Idea

Many older cars use simple dim light bulps. Most modern cars have leds with nice on/off transitions. What if we could bring nice bright LED lights to the older cars.

Prototype

For the prototype I first looked at how my interior light is wired. After some dissassembly and measuring with the multimeter, I got this simple scheme to how my interior light is wired.

I also labeled the inputs and output inside my interior light.

I recreated the switch part on a breadboard with a switch and button:

Finally I added some leds, a mosfet, potentiometer and microcontroller to control the leds.
