This is a breakout board for the ESP8266-01 board. It is designed to connect the RX and TX pins of the ESP8266 board to a Seeed Grove header so it can be connected to a seeed grove base shield. There is a jumper to put the board into firmware update mode and pin outs for supplying power via an external power source.
This board is meant to make using the ESP8266-01 easier to use for rapid prototyping.
Here you can see the 3 stages of the board, bare PCB -> populated PCB -> connected to ESP8266-01 wifi chip.
Here you can see the breakout PCB hooked up to the Seeed Grove Basic header shield. By using this it makes the board compatible with any arduino pin compatible board.
There is also a jumper on the board (top left), if the jumper is used to connect the two top left pins then the board will be powered up in firmware reset mode.
BOM: bill of materials
This board requires 3 headers + pcb + ESP8266 chip
1 - seeed grove through hole header
1 - 4pin male 100mil header (the samtech TSW-104-06-F-S works nicely)
1 - 2x4pin female 100mil header (the samtech BCS-104-F-D-TE works nicely)
1 - PCB - order from oshpark, dirtypcb, pcbunivers,... etc
1 - ESP8266-01 wifi chip to plug in once everything's finished.
