The project is about how we can make attract and have more loyal customers with a membership that accumulates points. We decided to make this project because as loyal customers return to brands and spend 31% more than new customers and 46% of loyal customers are likely to keep purchasing from a brand after a negative experience. Even a 5% increase in customer retention results in a 25% increase in profit. Thus, this product from our project was made to help make customers more loyal to that store with the use of, example: (The points reward system) recording all the transactions of customers and allocating the designated discounts to each specific customer.
The "Smart Checkout Machine" isn't complicated at all.
It contains 2 M5stacks, 2 RFIDs, 1 servo motor and PIR sensor.
When the PIR sensor detects someone entering/exiting the store (whether someone is close or not), the servo motor waves Hello/Goodbye to them. This also activates both the Checkout machine.
RFID (1) scans the items (Cards as that is the only thing it can scan). The M5stack (1) will than display the item's name, quantity, amount and total amount (Basically a normal Self-checkout machine). It also has buttons which resets the "Cart", purchases whatever is inside the cart and, a back button to...um...Back out.
On the other hand, M5Stack (2) has servo motor which waves (Mentioned before) and RFID (2) scans membership cards to give discounts.
Without going into too much detail (since it will give me a migraine from explaining and typing all of it), this "Smart Checkout Machine" is basically a Self-Checkout machine with some extra added bonuses.
In the end, the "Smart Checkout Machine" from our project is just to help make customers more loyal to that store.
