Agrumino is not a simple sensor, but is a very DevBoard based on Esp8266 WiFi.
So, let’s get started.
Before getting started make sure you have
1 Agrumino Kit
1 Micro usb cable for upload sketch with Arduino Ide
1 Water Pump 3, 7 V with jst connector
1 PowerBank with micro usb cable
Agrumino Libraries : https://bit.ly/2VInnCl
Setup Page https://bit.ly/3qgYQ43
Step 1: Soil Moisture Sensor Description and ConnectionI' now explain Agrumino.
In the Agrumino's kit there are a Small sticker for battery holder protection, one big sticker with a startup name, a mini shunt to turn On/Off Agrumino and a Lir2450 rechargeable battery 120mAh.
So, also in the front board there are:
- Micro usb port
- Lux sensor and temperature sensor
- Soil Moisture sensor (in the bottom, similar slat)
- Mini dip Switch (On/Off battery charge and On /Off I2C power circuit)
- Green Led
- Button reset and one custom button
- Esp8266 WiFi Chip
In the rear there are:
- Jst connector for water level
- Jst connector for Watering pump (3.3 V)
- Jst connector for 2 Gpio with Power source
- Jst connector for external Power source
- Jst connector for I2C, this connector is the best, because guaranteed expandability of the other sensors.

Step 2: Download and install Agrumino LibrariesNow, download and install Agrumino libraries on your Ide from this link https://bit.ly/2VInnCl (coming soon directly from Ide)
Now, insert a battery and mini shunt to Power on the Board and connect Agrumino with a micro usb Cable (Agrumino ready)
Now import sketch from link and set the thresholds
#define SLEEP_TIME_SEC 120 ///s Time
#define THRESHOLD 25 ///% soil moisture
#define THRESHOLDTEMP 22 ////°C
#define SERIALBAUD 115200
#define WATERINGTIME 1000 //// msTime
SLEEP_TIME_SEC (awakening time for reading the values) max 3600ms
THRESHOLD soil moisture threshold before watering
THRESHOLDTEMP environment temperature threshold before watering
WATERINGTIME maximum pump start-up time
In this sketch Agrumino start the watering with this formula
if (soilPerc < THRESHOLD && temp < THRESHOLDTEMP) {
agrumino.turnLedOn();
Serial.print("I'm Watering your plant");
agrumino.turnWateringOn();
delay(WATERINGTIME);
agrumino.turnWateringOff();
delay(1000);
agrumino.turnLedOff();
}
else if (soilPerc < THRESHOLD && temp > THRESHOLDTEMP) {
Serial.println("Soil moisture is not ok, but temperature is very high....I'm waiting..");
}
}
For watering the formula also controls the temperature, to avoid watering when the ambient temperature is very high
Step 4: Connect pump on Agrumino and startNow connect the pump to the Agrumino and place it in your plant and the pump inside a container of water. I used a simple bottle of water.
and connect hose into a pump
This is a last step, put Agrumino in the soil of your plant (see photo), put pump into a water container with water (for test I used a simple bottle of water)
Now Agrumino you will water your plants automatically with the configured thresholds.
For a long life I recommend you connect a Power Bank with(see hardware components) a micro usb cable, or connect a 3.7 V battery in the dedicated connector (type 18650)
Conclusion:Now you can go on travel without having thoughts for your plants.
This is made simple, we can also insert the control of the water in the container, warning alarms with the internet, mqtt protocol, thingspeak etc etc...
I hope this project is interesting and easy to use for you.
This is just one of my many projects with Agrumino. Agrumino can be used in many ways and many projects.
I will tell you more about Agrumino soon
Agrumino is used a lot in schools by many boys and girls
Soon other projects that use the internet connection.
Thank you....
See you soon
