From an outing to the May 2014 Bay Area Makers Faire, I saw an Arduino skirt that would be perfect for Burning Man. I attempted to re-create it using the concepts of sewing a skin-tight A-line sliver metallic skirt to be the canvas that allowed light reflections that hung from an exterior skirt structure. This was the first time I made my own skirt pattern using architecture buff paper to deconstruct a similar A-line skirt. I also had to figure out how to make black ribbon vs black boning material to allow for LED lights to be more easily sewn on. I made Neopixel ribbons with conductive thread and figured out a good wiring diagram, but had to switch the lights at the last minute due to the Lilypad Arduino catching on fire.
Light reflection skirt (Aug 2014)
A-line skirt with exterior boning (corset) structure to hold LED lights. Next version will have sound-to-light sensors.
