My first foray into CAD was slightly uncomfortable, just like this ring. Slip the sphere-laden torus on to one of your fingers, and, assuming it does't get stuck first, experience the same discomfort of a first-time CAD user struggling with basic shapes.
Recall that digital 3D printing lies on one end of a spectrum of direct contact with a product, with bare hands being at the other end. DURR's discomfort also reflects the reality that current static 3D printing doesn't offer much leeway for ergonomics unless they are precomputed. It's bizarre, uneven form factor reflects this reality and delivers a truly discomforting experience to the wearer.
