When I started working on this project I really had no clue how I was going to get it done because I had no clue what I wanted to do. I was in my attic taking down boxes because we had to get our entire hot water system re-piped and when I was up there I saw a cool looking box. I realized that the box is from when I bought my Astros gaming headphones. right there I had my first container for my project.
Still not knowing what I wanted to do for my project I was the biggest problem and the fact that I was not sure but I had equipment already I thought was funny. I was sitting at a light with my friend and I realized that I was able to make something that reminded me of a redlight for my project. I just had to now come up with the code and set it up with the box so that it would show a light like shape.
In class we were working in MakeCode and our professor was instructing us on haw we would be able to make the switch show a light and it clicked to me that is what I needed for my project. We worked through how to make the switch tell the board when to turn the lights on and off and then all of the sudden I realized that I was basically at the point I the project that I could try to set up the box to look kinda like a street light.
- When setting up the box I made incisions that allowed me to put the alligator clip ends through and I was able to also put the switch through the box. I also made an incision that allowed me to connect the battery through the cardboard to the part of the circuit playground that would give it power but I was able to hide the battery and all of the wiring inside of the box. I wanted a cover over the board that would make it look more like a light so I took one of the lids to one of my moms mason jars and then I put tissue paper in the lid that would slightly diffuse the way the lights look. The lid was wide enough so that it could hide the wire to the battery and this allowed me to cover the entire circuit playground express.
My project is very simple and I came up with the idea when I was driving home the other day looking at the street light. I thought that it would be cool if I was able to make something look like a red light. It is something simple but it shows a bright red light that reminds me of how a red light shines at you.
The light is only made from the circuit playground express itself and I am using simple alligator clips to connect the switch to the board. For a power source I have connected it to a lithium battery that is within the box and it is gonna stay connected till I am done playing with this project. I know it is simple but for what I was designing it to do it gets the job done.
