This is a weekend project that just a simple idea comes to my mind when I play the Tamiya mini-4WD.
" What if I can FPV the mini-4WD ?It should create a racing "feeling"!!"
So I started planning to put a GOPRO/SJCAM on the mini-4WD.
I choose to put a SJCAM with wifi as I can directly view the capture live streaming and it is a lot cheaper than the GOPRO camera. In case there is a crash or accident happen, it would not cost too much. :P
I design the 3D print mounting to the Tamiya AR mini-4WD chassis. The reason behind is this chassis provides a lot of screw holes and the batteries are installed at the bottom. I don't need to remove the parts everytime when I need to change the batteries.
I decide to use the lowest speed motor and use the gear ratio 5:1. You may think that the speed is super slow compare to the racing car, but it needs to carry a heavy camera on it. The speed in the recording is good and you may find too dizzy if the speed is too fast.
I put on the stabilize bar as the add-on parts to avoid the car turn over as the camera is on top of it and quite heavy.
Enjoy the race track video:)
