Shortly before Easter, I would like to draw your attention to an inexpensive gift (1 piece = 20 Euro or US$) for your loved ones: it is a trailer, which exchanges location information via Bluetooth with the smartphone and can trigger mutual alerts.

The triggered hype revolves around the "Tile" - in my case, the "Tile Mate" presented here. The small differences are shown on the website of the manufacturer.
After you have bought a bundle - usually 4 pieces - or just a tile to try out you follow the steps on the back of the package (CD size - way too big for the small pendant).

After downloading the smartphone app follows the creation of an account with the manufacturer. In the app, you can then create your Tile assistant-based and pair with the smartphone.
The usual paperwork is inside a booklet: limited guarantees in multiple languages and a short introduction.
Sensors also responded to whistling or clapping some years ago. Compared to that time, the Tile would have stood up well to a GSM module instead of relying on the limited Bluetooth range of the smartphone. But at least: once the smartphone has been misplaced, the cell phone can play a melody by "double-clicking" the button on the tile, even if it was set to "just vibration".
Typical things whose loss is painful: the keys, the purse, a high quality camera, the bike, tools, piece of baggage, sports equipment (but only partially waterproof), etc.

CriticismsGermany Amazons' feedbacks agree that the biggest shortcoming is the battery that can not be changed by the consumer. Tile provides a paid exchange process for broken tiles: "reTile".
SummaryA useful gadget with limited shelf life for all the scatterbrained Hackster members - unless you open the case and replace the standard battery (CR2032/3V) significantly cheaper than the Tile replacement process.
Side note: if you want to dig deeper into the bag (109 US$), the Particle "Asset Tracker" is recommended, with the GSM module: time for familiarization is required.
Anyone who gives nothing at Easter is also completely correct on the way: finally, it is about Jesus' crucifixion, his death and his resurrection. In his memory, we celebrate the coming holidays.
