Hi Guys, I reserved the spring for sports activities in order to steer my aging body in addition to the spirit.
For this I registered for the first time a gym and had contact with a treadmill. I started running as I did in my youth and was promptly sweating.
I was determined to reduce some weight, which only works if I am running in a certain heart rhythm that is not too high or too low.
H10So I bought myself products of the company Polar: first a H10. This is a heart rate belt for folding. In the further course also a clock with GPS: the V800.
This article describes my experiences with these 2 products and how to get them started.
PrerequisiteYou create an account at http://flow.polar.com. In the further course you will be guided with the upload of your activities in the portal of the manufacturer also of the evaluations.
to the H10This youngest scion of the heart rate belts has for me 1 crucial advantage: it also works in the water while swimming and records the swim training.
Prerequisite for this is the smartphone app "Polar Beat" (paid features have now become free with the update of the app to v2.6.1, including Benefit Target, Fitness Test, EnergyPointer and RunningIndex).
After logging in with your account data, the HF-sensor is paired in the settings. If NO belt is attached, although the activity can be created in the app, but the evaluation of the heart rate is missing, which is integrated only by using the belt in the activity. If the belt is coupled with the app, a symbol appears in the training section (top right) to start recording on the belt.
So this is not on the HF-sensor, but exclusively on the app. After successfully completed training session go back to the smartphone and ends the recording. The app syncs with the strap and reads out the recorded data. If there is an internet connection from the smartphone, synchronization with the Polar Flow portal will be carried out additionally: Your training will be listed with many details (calorie consumption, heart rate, distance and more) on the web at http://flow.polar.com under your account.
The athletic beginner is certainly enough to record using a smartphone and HF-belt, but the statistical athlete among you is still a "sports watch" as the model V800 recommended.
To the V800This nestles in the collection of statistics and record even by the daily wear a lot of times - including the inactive times - on and so also evaluates sleep habits.
Getting started with the clock: For the sake of simplicity, you place your sports types in the online portal, for example "running on a treadmill", "yoga", "treadmill". Here, Polar offers a lot of ready-made sports types to choose from.
Each sport type can be adjusted to your preferences: what should be recorded after synchronization to the clock and above all displayed on the clock display?
Thus, after a certain running distance, a peep can be issued / or just not or when moving the clock in the vicinity of the chest strap, the time can be displayed.
Once you have the flow sync once installed on your PC / laptop (Download), it will synchronize in sync with the clock-adapter via USB in both directions: newly created sports types also in the direction of clock, as well as activities directly recorded by the watch. By using the clock, the use of the app "Polar Beat" is in the background: activities are now recorded directly with the red button on the right after clock after selecting the desired sport type and stopped by holding the button "Back" bottom left for 3 seconds.
The button on the top left is for the activation of light in the display. With the buttons right down and up you navigate in the menu and the red button in the middle right is similar to Enter.
Special functions V800Special functions for the clock can be called up in the time mode: If you hold down the top left or top right for a few seconds, further functions are displayed: key lock, alarm clock or settings for displaying the time (digital, analog, with / without name the owner).
By the wayIt is a lithium battery with 150 mAh installed: how small is such a battery, I have looked at Cebit. There, a friendly stand operator had the goodness to introduce me his battery models. We philosophized a bit about JST connectors. This only marginally.
AppsIn addition to the Polar Beat app, you can also install the Polar Flow app on the smartphone: I prefer to use the Flow portal via the browser, because it offers more information at a glance.
ReportingLet's take a look at the reporting features of the web portal's free flow feature:
- a nice feature is the tracking of the recorded route with Google Maps. Here you can give third parties an insight into the beauty of past waypoints.
- The watch also provides a routing function to guide you to the starting point: useful for off-course runs. Here I can not give you any details.
- The Diary gives you insight into red items and shows the details of your activities.
- The portal provides information about necessary recovery times for times of regeneration.
- evaluates the daily activities and reminds the user of the lack of exercise through the watch.
- Strava Live Segments - no idea what that is. Not checked yet.
In online trading, there are various bundles to buy: the HF-belt alone costs around 60-70 euros - not quite cheap but interesting for swimmers and triathletes.
The V800 is available alone, as well as with HF-belt: please expect an issue of up to 230 Euro (as of 06/2018). Although this is Polar's top model, it has been on the market for a few years now.
Fortunately, the fitness equipment is compatible with the Polar sensor and so the speed of the treadmill is adjusted to my set cardio program: the treadmill suggests a range between 108 and 138 RF beats per minute, in my range around 8 km / Hour run. A comfortable pace for me, but even after 45 minutes usually only 2 beers lost. Means only in combination with a (strict) diet can in my opinion actually reduce weight - but not quickly and only when overcoming the inner bastard. With this I have built a bridge to the last product of the Polar series.
Polar BalanceThe Polar Balance - a scale with Bluetooth, so that also weight information about the watch can be included in the web application for evaluation. However, I am not informed, because not in use.
MottoSo that all athletes, couch surfers, thicknesses and thinness wishes a nice summer true to the motto "do not exaggerate, you are valuable as you feel yourself".
Update 13.08.2018As soon as the battery in the H10 sensor weakens, this is announced in the display of the V800 with a notice to the user: "HF sensor weak", so this then an action call to the user means a CR2025-Battery so organize and in the H10 exchange.
