Itead Studio - Arduino 1602 LCD Keypad Shield

In my fund I still had an LCD1602 Keypad shield 1.0 from Itead Studio (IM120417018), which I wanted to try out with my Arduino Uno.

The typical Liquid Crystal Library was unsuccessful and so I looked at the manufacturer's help. With this product, which can no longer be bought (=Status retired), I followed the advice that it is an LCD "4 bit". This finding put me on track two to test "4-bit" libraries found via Google.

Only the right one with LCD4Bit_mod in the name worked for me with this shield.

When I tried this lib it didn't work. Stick with this product to the "mod" adapted version.
