I want to design and build a system that uses efficient DC power supplies to feed DC power throughout the home to power lighting. In new construction, we would add a DC subpanel to intelligently and efficiently supply power to our components/light bulbs. This generally located smart supply will be connected (IOT) to an app that allows me to turn on and off individual fixtures, add scenes, and my most desired feature, autodimming for late night activity. Motion sensors in each space coupled with Bluetooth on my band/fitbit/etc will automatically turn on the light in the kitchen, bathroom,or hall at a dim level at night to provide visibility without being too bright. For existing homes, the same concept applies, but each device will cost more due to ac/dc conversion and the need for each device to connect to a central computer in order to receive instructions on level/on off state, etc. When using the system, individual preference can be set for brightness and color temperature (within a certain range depending on placement or product capability).
