In 2018, we launched our first crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with “Qdee” Project. Even till today, our hearts are still filled with gratitude for the support coming from all 699 backers. It is a dream come true as a Makers at heart when our idea had become a reality and to gain such widespread approvals and supports. Following the few years, we had delivered tens of thousands of Qdees to all over the world.
The success of Qdee goes beyond sales, it holds the key to open doors for us to connect with robot enthusiasts on a global scale. We were fortunate to receive many users feedback, and the passion for creativity we felt from them had become the guiding light and fueled our motivation for our road ahead.
Throughout our journey of developing our technology, we often challenge ourselves to be innovative in the form of our products and showcasing our technological creativity. As technology advances, Artificial Intelligence is no longer limited to science fiction or for use only in the fields of industry or military. More makers, students, enthusiasts, and engineers learning artificial intelligence technology, and many interesting AI projects are being developed as well. This advancement inspired us to develop the first educational robot infused with artificial intelligence in the market.
Started in second half of 2018, this project was drafted and developed for preliminary testing. Throughout the process, we envisioned that a robot with AI vision capabilities, combined with programming can lead to a new dimension in programming with an abundance of creative possibilities. Thus, we bring the power of AI to robot, build a true AI robotic arm -- JetMax, to enhance the AI and robotic learning experience for everyone.
- Powered by NVIDIA Jetson Nano
The open-source JetMax robot arm is powered by Jetson Nano, featuring deep learning, computer vision and more. Jetson Nano has the performance needed to power modern AI workloads to enable JetMax robot arm with advanced AI capabilities.
JetMax is an open platform hardware product. We contribute numerous project source and AI tutorials. Additionally, the API interface is completely opened for customization and supports, such as Python, C++ and JAVA languages.
For robotic developers, supporting documents such as 3D model of ROS are also provided. We upload a lot of sample codes for using JetMax. Including the function of forward and inverse kinematics algorithms, the control of peripherals of expansion board and a variety of AI application examples, such as target recognition and image classification.
- Functional HD Wide-Angle Camera
In consideration of flexibility and expansion, JetMax camera bracket are specially designed to be adaptable to fit different angle in according to operation setup needs.
- Fitted with Smart Bus Servos
We have rich experience in robot servo development. The HTS-35H high voltage servo is a smart bus servo with three connectors. Compared with the traditional 7.4V servo, the 11.1V high-voltage servo can reduce the current by more than 50% which can be connected in series.
We have been updating servos of JetMax. Now the new smart bus servos have stronger torque and higher accuracy, and they will elevate the performance of JetMax to a new level.
- Supports multiple types of EoAT (End-of-Arm Tooling)
Supporting multiple types of end-of-arm tooling such asgrippers, suction cup, pen holder, electromagnet etc, JetMax provides you with many ways of creative design applications.
Combined with the big gripper, you can grab large items.
Combined with the pen holder, JetMax can write and draw.
Electromagnet brings more fun to the JetMax. Using the magnetic force, it can hold the small spanner, cola can and so on.
Equipped with the small gripper, JetMax can realize interesting projects such as picking apples.
- Various Forms
Creativity should not be constrained by the form of the robotic arm. With the sliding rail and vehicle chassis, the working space of JetMax can be fully extended to enable it to do more tasks.
Combined with the sliding rail, we can build a mini smart parking lot.
With the vehicle chassis, JetMax robotic arm can realize intelligent tracking and grasping.
- Multiple Extended Functions
JetMax features multiple sensor ports. With different sensors connected, more AI applications can be realized easily through program coding.
According to our limited innovations, we create several scenarios for JetMax to operate different jobs. Faithfully, being an AI Vision Robotic Arm, JetMax not only features AI vision but has a clever brain as well. Supporting in learning coding, researching AI robotics applications, and bringing AI ideas to life. It can be your helping hand in a lab, university, or workshop. - Color Sorting
JetMax intelligent robotic arm using FPV (First Person View) to identify color variations on the objects. Thereby enabling it to execute object sorting.
- Target tracking
Utilizing its dynamic image processing power, JetMax through its AI vision can track and follow the target in real time.
Through Deep Learning, JetMax can identify object’s unique features to perform sorting task such as sorting of waste materials, vegetables etc.
- Smart Warehouse
JetMax can simulate industrial robotic arms. You can set up your own mini Smart Warehouse at home or in the lab with multiple JetMax working collaboratively.
- Mask Identification
JetMax can detect if you are wearing a mask and react with interesting interaction.
JetMax can read alphabets and compose the word autonomously.
- Numeric Calculation
Combining with Python coding, JetMax can see with independent thinking to conduct arithmetic calculations or higher level of vision tasks.
- Gesture Recognition
AI Vision enables JetMax to capture finger’s joint locations and analyze fingers position. You can interact with JetMax to execute tasks by just using hand gestures.

JetMax can identify your facial expression and draw it out.
- Mini Production Line
No small detail can escape JetMax’s eye. Through image training, JetMax can spot defects on small object or accessories.
JetMax supports a variety of control modes. PC control, APP control, mouse control and wireless handle control. To ensure that anyone can enjoy the process of creating, JetMax has intuitive, user-friendly features to ease your starting journey into the AI robotic world. You can switch your operation modes at will.
- PC Control
Utilizing our user-friendly software, we can control the movement of the robotic arm through adjusting the terminal coordinate position. And we can also directly control the robotic arm by pulling the slide bar. There is a first vision scene in the software interface, so we can monitor the FPV of the robot arm intuitively.
- App Control
You can control the JetMax robot arm using an App on your phone as well. It will be available on our official website soon. The FPV of the robot arm will be transmitted to APP.
- Wireless Handle Control
The JetMax can be remotely controlled by a wireless handle up to 15 meters range.
- Mouse Control
JetMax can be easily controlled once you get a mouse on your desktop.
Starting from the second half of 2020, we want to build an open source robot with AI vision and deep learning, aiming at helping more people learn artificial intelligence knowledge and robot kinematics algorithms. Thus, the JetMax robotic arm project was initiated.
After many research and development work to find the best platform, we finally decided on using Jetson Nano with a high-definition wide-angle camera to elevate the possibility of the robotic arm to a new dimension. To allow developers to better accomplish their AIcreativity, we enhance the scalability of JetMax to meet the development needs of different scenarios.
Backed by the Jetson Nano’s excellent computing power in operating ROS, our Robotic Arm can perform real-time object recognition, autonomous sorting, face recognition, gesture recognition, etc. with a high level of efficiency and flexibility. After days and nights of hard work, we have developed more functions and decided to contribute these AI ideas as open-source.
We believe that JetMax will allow people to learn about the exciting world of robotics and AI technology.
