I wanted to make a cool but light on resources nightlamp, and I have found hot glue diffuses the light of the led nicely, so I made a simple paper mache volcano, using hot glue as lava. It’s hollow so there is plenty of space for the circuit, and I only use resistors and an led so it wasn’t expensive at all, totalling a few dollars.
Start with rolling a cone of paper and gluing it on a small piece of cardboard,
Then scrunch up little balls of paper and put them around the base.
Then put smaller balls of paper on top of them.
Now you can paper mache. Using a brush, cover ripped up bits of paper with white glue and paste them onto your volcano like so.
When you have a mountain shape, it’s time to plug in your hot glue gun! (After letting it dry).
To make the cone shape on top, the lava spewing out of your mighty volcano, draw a circle of hot glue, let it dry then add another layer, like a 3d printer. Slowly start “printing“ outwards in a cone shape. When you are done, peel it off and glue it on the top.
Then drip hot glue from the top of the cone to form lava rivers on the side of the volcano.
Then to make the rocks being blasted out of the volcano, again draw a curved line of hot glue then a lump of the glue at the end (the rock), let it dry and peel it of, gluing it to the inside of the volcano.
Then it’s time to paint the thing! I’ll leave that up to you.
Then simply make the voltage divider, solder it or twist the wires together and connect it to the battery.
