Features a clamp style desk lamp which takes on less space on your workspace.
TheClamp
The clamp is made from steel tubes found in most local hardwares. It is divided into two parts;
The larger section is a two-inch wide tube which I cut from a steel tube. This part acts as the grip on the table through the linear mechanism of the bolt as it turns in a nut welded directly at the bottom part.
The second part is the one that holds the base arm of the lamp through its two hole drilled through.
The two parts are connected together by rivets for a cleaner look. To join using rivets, I drilled two holes on the two pieces then used a hand-held rivetting machine to rivet.
TheStructure
I made the lamp skeleton using cypress wood due to its high strength to weight ratio plus it has a better finish. I drilled 5mm holes to attach together at the joint using bolts.
TheBolts
These are standard 5mm bolts that I used to join the whole thing together. You will notice that I have flattened their heads. This is to give them enough torque for easy re-adjusting of the lamp position using hands.
Electricals
I used this standard bulb-holder for the attachment of the bulb. This is to make it easy to remove and replace the bulb incase of damage or if simply prefer a different color bulb. The holder has screws at the back to attach the power cable.
I chose this bulb simply because it was readily available. I would recommend a smaller lower power bulb for this.
For the switch I went with this cheap bed switch. For a more professional look I recommend a toggle switch.
For the cable I went with this fused laptop charger cable.
Assembly
For the shell I used this old cup which I cut the bottom to insert the head part of the bulb holder and secured it using superglue.
