With 15 years in art education, my team began exploring the fusion of AI and art in 2023. We found standard text-to-image AI was often too abstract for younger students. A breakthrough came this year with the introduction of M5stack hardware, making AI tangible and accessible.
We’ve since integrated this hardware, transforming our art curriculum. Now, AI acts as a creative partner, guiding kids to explore new frontiers like programming art and interactive installations. This approach goes beyond traditional methods, sparking imagination and fostering the interdisciplinary thinking and innovation essential for the future of creativity.
The following section presents a case study of one lesson from the AI-assisted interdisciplinary art curriculum series designed by our team.
