ASTUTE LIGHT:
Lighting has become a basic essential of life. Light is the only electric component that is present all over the house - irrespective of which room, workspace, streets and everywhere. The lighting is important aspect of living and human being’s mood too. Here is a model world that enhances the roles of a light and easify our living. Simply – “LIGHT is lot more than just LIGHTING”
Lighting Automated
Light is one of the electrical components that is present in every household and used for ample time. Energy spent for lighting is dissipated needlessly when
1) Light in surrounding light is sufficient. Thus in order to create energy efficient system i.e., light intensity of the lighting system as a function of surrounding light. When the surrounding light is high the light level of the light is LOW/OFF and when surrounding light is low the lighting system produces intense light. An inverse photo resistor is connected in series with the lighting setup so that inverse photo resistor serves the purpose of the above light Intensity inversion
2) No being is there in the room - There is no very much necessity of light. So at times when people are off, the light gets switched OFF/ON automatically by the presence of the being with a PIR sensor.
An additional feature that is being added to this is a RFID tag, a wearable to each being – from a household pet to elderly people or children at home. Along with it the RFID detector is attached to the light such that it can track the location of being in the room. Presence of being at home triggers lighting at the particular room. If any being is present in the room the according lighting is setup.
3) When people are asleep at times the light needs to be OFF, in order to do so an app is built-in for easy switch ON and OFF.
4. Occasionally, the lighting becomes periodic and is more flexible when it gets ON and OFF using the watch. In order to achieve this a timer – lighting is set and light is On and OFF according to time.
One of the above four options can be opted using the same app – depending of the occasion of usage.
Beyond Lighting
1) When a PIR sensor at the entrance shows a signal of a person and the person is without any RFID tag – a SMS is sent to the authorized person of the house that some one has arrived – with which guest or even thieves can be found out.
2) Light that can recogonise voice and repond to that. More like one that can remind people about their routine and remainders.
3) The lights are connected with all the mobile phones and can sense the battery level thus the light can alert the person to put the phone on charge in due time. The light is always connected to mobile phones that are usually held at the home. These phones when their charge gets drained then the light givesa beep with a bluetooth enabled communication between the phone and light
4) The sockets in home are sensed by the light and frequently say the power usage and devices consuming power at home. The mordern energy meters are smart meters that are oftenIoT enabled thus when high power usage is at home - Th elight can alert the user about this. And even the power usage in the homecan be sent to the light on egular basis.
The model extends beyond home
1) The almost 38% of streetlight power consumption is drained without need of usage. This can be prevented by using Streetlight that works in accordance to
a) Timer (or) Environment light sensed
b) Car/vehcile sensed - using a series of IR sensor pair along the path of the road and based on digital logic circuit i.e., when IR sensor - reciever pair causes any fluctations in intensity due to vehcile movement and depending on direction of fluctations in IR sensor - thee motion is sensed and thus streetlight can glow according to where car is located.
2) This streetlighting can be used to determine the vehcilar's speed and send information to police if any speed violation occurs. Car wit IR based system can also be used to find the car's speed and help to reduce violations at a lower cost.
3) The above system can also effectively determine the traffic and vechiles present in the locality. There is a series of IR LED all along the path in roads next to the junctions. Thus depending on number of IR -Photodiode signals that are recieved the count of cars or the lenght upto which cars are present is known thus accordingly user dependent traffic lights can be created.
4) The lights possesses info tracker of GPS data from the bus and indicate the recent buses that crossed and arriving buses.
5) Attendance at workplace is simplified by a RFID reader fixed with the lighting. The light has a RFID tag that can identify presence of person. Thus attendance and location of the person and attendance can be known.
