The inspiration came from a simple question: How can we make hardware feel alive without complex setups? Most smart wearables are either too bulky, power-hungry, or overly complicated to build. I wanted to create something that bridges the gap between high-tech aesthetics and comforting companionship, while keeping it accessible to everyone.
By combining the compact form factor of the XIAO ESP32-S3 with a vibrant circular screen, I realized we could create a pocket-sized companion. It doesn't track your steps or show your notifications; instead, its sole purpose is to "be there" for you, blinking silently and offering unique, silent healing and companionship wherever you go.
step1: Hardware Connection
- Insert the XIAO ESP32-S3 into the Round Display extension board socket.
- Align the USB port with the shield's orientation and press firmly.
- Connect to a computer via USB Type-C for firmware flashing.
step2: Firmware Flashi
⚡Quick Flash: Click here to flash the firmware directly via SenseCraft!
step3: Powering On and Usage
Power On:If the screen does not respond upon powering on, press the Reset button to restart the device. Otherwise, once power is connected, the screen automatically starts playing the blinking animation and continues until the device is powered off.
step4: Future Expandable Directions
- Shake to Change Expressions: Shake the pendant to switch between different expressions like happy, sleepy, etc.
- Proximity Blink: When someone approaches, the eye blinks once to "say hello"
- Low-Battery Playful Pout: When battery is low, the eye squints and looks at you pitifully to remind you to charge
