I love the build-up to Christmas. The lights and magical feeling in the air. This project aims to use the Waveshare RP2040 Touch 1.28 and some WS2812B LED to bring that to life.

So the RP2040 Touch will display a different picture each day, and enable navigation through the previous days. Using a ChronoDot V3 DS3231 RTC to hold the date and time.

The WS2812B LEDs are placed within three acrylic Christmas trees. Each day as we move towards Christmas an LED is illuminated within one of the trees, showing a build-up of excitement. Then when we get to Christmas we get full fairlight-style display across the trees.

I loved this project so much that I converted my prototype into a full PCB design and 3D printed case. I document the story of that part in this video.
