Brainstorming Ideas
When sketching out potential designs, one of my biggest concerns was what kind of chassis would allow the vehicle to turn most easily. The first design was a stable 4-wheel chassis but I realized it would be difficult to control the wheels so in my next design I experimented with a two-piece body, each part of which would be connected by a hinge and the flexibility would enable easy turning. For my last design I decided to sketch a three wheel one, where the front wheel would have the ability to pivot and control the vehicle's direction.
I laser cut a couple of wheels and mainly played around with cardboard to create my lo-fi prototypes.
It was important to keep in mind that all the electronic components would be attached to the vehicle so I needed to leave room for them as well.
