Overview
It's time to build the Autodesk University 2027 Product!
Using Autodesk Fusion, Arduino® UNO™ Q, and $300 from PCBWay, design a device that enhances how you interact with yourself, your environment, or other people. Create a smart accessory you can wear, attach, clip, or carry.
The winning AU 2027 Product Concept will be the most connected and creative accessory that can be put into production for Autodesk University 2027. This product will be manufactured for AU 2027 (approximately 750 units).
Over the years, different Autodesk devices have included an air quality meter, a digital conference badge, a macropad, and a multi-measure device. For example, the Multi-Measure device from 2025 measures angle, distance, level, and color all in one device - there is a feature potentially useful to anyone in any industry segment.
Your device should be handheld, can legally be kept in carry-on luggage, and is useful beyond the context of the conference. It is something that any Autodesk customer could use. It can feature injection molding, 3D printing, CNC machining, PCB(s), and off the shelf parts. For this competition, hardware application recipients will build with Autodesk Fusion, the UNO Q, and $300 from PCBWay.
As you build your smart accessory, think compact, connected, and creative.
You could create an altruistic AI pin badge of sorts, such as an AI-enabled, wearable device that gathers data of your choosing to make your life or the lives of others better. Think beyond heart rate monitors and get creative!
Or maybe you will design a voice-enabled wearable assistant, an AI translator badge, or a computer-vision badge.
Your device could focus on human augmentation. Replace, enhance, or reimagine a human sense or build another type of assistive tech. Level up one (or more) of your senses, such as a wearable with haptic navigation tools, a vision-to-audio assistive badge, or a sound localization wearable.
Your device doesn't have be a wearable - you could build a pocket-sized tool that is a hardware-enabled version of a Swiss army knife.
And don't forget to include the UNO Q in your design!
Apply for hardwareWe're excited to announce that there will be 100 users who receive a Autodesk Fusion license for the duration of the competition, an UNO Q (4G), and up to $300 to spend with PCBWay to develop their prototype project for the Autodesk University 2027!
Additionally, 200 users will receive an UNO Q (4G) to continue building their idea.
Your hardware application must include:
- The link to the project you have started. This project should include the beginning of your Bill of Materials (BOM), the UNO Q, and Autodesk Fusion. It should also include your Autodesk Fusion design/dataset (.f3d file). This does not need to be your final design, but we need to see what you're planning to build.
- Answer all of the questions included in the application.
