I'm doing a little project with these LED filaments, but I want to power it all from 5 volts and the LED filaments need at least 45 volts to light up. I've made a small boost converter circuit on breadboard and I'm using an ESP32 to create the PWM signal and monitor the voltage.
There's a full research video below where I simulate the boost circuit in SPICE using KiCad and then wire it up to an ESP32 to provide the PWM signal and monitor the output voltage - I only killed one board - zapped it with 50v and it wasn't happy...
The circuit I've built is a pretty standard DC boost converter:
It works really well - even on breadboard - so I'll be using it in my next projects which will be a jumbo 7 segment display.
