Drift introduces users to a unique journey throughout their city.
The main user is presented with a variety of categories, or they can simply click random. Random allows the user to truly have a new experience in the city without human interference. If the main user chooses a category, they are then given subcategories. Of course the user is allowed to choose a random subcategory! Then the user is presented with specific locations. Upon clicking each image the user is presented with more information about each location, this will also highlight their selection. To confirm their location, the user must have a location highlighted. Upon choosing the user can then pick which of his friends to invite, however, the user can only select other users that have chosen to active. If they are not active, their name will not show up. Then the user can select a few options regarding their path, Scenic and Nature, Touristy, and more! Then the user can select a later time than the time displayed. This time is the earliest all of the selected friends can arrive. If the user wants to change the time, he can only add time, the user is not able to subtract time (an error is thrown if this is tried). Lastly, the Main user is presented with a high view map, however, they must follow step by step directions on their watch. This is done so that the users will interact with their surroundings instead of paying attention to their phones. Also, there is a back button in case the user needs to navigate to the previous screen.
The friends of the main user will receive a notification that they have received an invitation. They may choose to accept or reject. Reject is allowed in case the user forgot to set their journey status off. If they accept, the user will see a photo of their friend and a message telling them to put their phone away and follow the step by step directions on their watch. They do not know the final location or where they are headed. They are also not informed of any time limit, because if they feel rushed they might not enjoy their journey. After each acceptance, the main user will receive an notification on who accepted.
The watch will open to the first direction and will guide each user with a map and a arrow showing which way they should walk, or if they should get on a bus, or hop on a trolley. When they arrive at their destination, a photo of the location and a welcome message will appear. On the watch, each user may choose how they want to interpret the estimated time of arrival, be it steps, turns, or bus stops! Also, since the app calculates the time and of arrival and the directions, users will receive notifications urging them to speed up or smell the flowers (slow down) since the app will know if they are running late. For the most part time is abstracted away to ensure full enjoyment.
At the very end, all users' phones recognize that all users have arrived and will open the camera application. This allows the users to have a photo to remember their journey by! It will also change their user photo to this new journey photo. (Seen in main user video)
Also, the bottom buttons allow the user to navigate the app. Home takes you to the main screen. For instance, after beginning a journey, something may come up! You may need to cancel your journey, and this will allow you to navigate to home and cancel your journey. The map option brings up the map of your current surroundings but does NOT show the user directions. The friends list allows users to add their friends and see who's online. Notifications will show all prior or current invitations.
Just a note, I video taped the interactions and then voiced over them, so some transitions are slower than they actually are, such as the loading screen in the friend user flow video and the check box selections for the main user.
