The Little Weather Reporter is a project completed for my instrumentation class at UNC Charlotte. This intentions of this project are to provide an effective way to gather real-time temperature and humidity information from any location with wi-fi access. This was my first time working on a project that utilizes the "Internet of Things".
Using temperature/humidity sensors and the Particle Photon I was able to set-up a circuit that would provide me with the temperature and humidity outside my apartment in real time. By modifying existing code to my specific needs I am able to view the results via mobicle.io on my Android phone, Power BI App on iPhone, Node Client, Windows PowerShell Serial Monitor, and Microsoft Power BI on PC.
Since I can use mobicle.io to check the current temperature and humidity conditions from my android phone, I no longer need to walk outside or even get out bed in order to know what clothing I need to wear to be comfortable for the day!
The Particle Photon and DHT11 Temperature Humidity Sensor are used to to gather data which is sent to Microsoft Azure.
I have set up my Fiance's iphone to be able to view the data through the Microsoft Power BI App.
I can visualize the data via Microsoft Power BI from my PC.
Node Client Visualization.
Serial Monitoring via Windows PowerShell.
My hopes are to take this project further over the summer and use it as a means to develop my familiarity with coding and the internet of things.
