Super capacitors are new power source, compared to batteries need different charging and power usage.
This watch using 5-20F capacitors because they have better dimensions. Board have high effective step up converter with operation to 0.3V.
Capacitor is charged to 2.5V with linear LDO or step down converter with simple current limiting resistor and then is discharged to zero with step up converter MCP1624 or in new version with with MAX1724.
About super cap power... 5F is about 10 minutes in highest brightness, 20 minutes in lowest brightness. In standby few days. It is hard to test you must wait days :-)
In last test 20F supercapacitor powering watch in standby 16days.
