We met Charles from the Canadian start up Structur3D Printing at Maker Faire Bay Area earlier this year. He was keen to use our paint in the new Discov3ry Extruder – a paste extruder designed to work with desktop 3D printers. It has the ability to replace plastic with something a bit more unusual- such as cake icing, Nutella or wood filler, plus its super easy to set up.
We sent them over a jar of paint, and were really impressed with what they achieved! The output was a printed fractal antenna (the design of which was provided by a member or their forum). Wikipedia describes a fractal antenna as:
‘an antenna that uses a fractal, self-similar design to maximize the length, or increase the perimeter (on inside sections or the outer structure), of material that can receive or transmit electromagnetic radiation within a given total surface area or volume’
The wide extruder distributes the paint onto glass.
