Pong Wars for Tab5 is a colorful, Pong-inspired simulation created for the M5Stack Tab5. Four balls move across the screen, competing to expand their territory by changing the color of every tile they touch.
I created this project to bring my earlier Pong Wars implementation to the Tab5 and explore the graphics performance of its ESP32-P4 processor. The Tab5’s large display makes it a great platform for this constantly changing visual battle.
The screen is divided into four colored territories, with one ball assigned to each color. When a ball enters another territory, the tile changes to the ball’s color and the ball bounces in a new direction. As the simulation continues, the balance of the battlefield changes unpredictably.
The project was developed with PlatformIO and the Arduino framework. It uses M5Unified and M5GFX for device and display control, while LGFX_PPA uses the ESP32-P4 Pixel Processing Accelerator to render the animation smoothly.
