After getting in touch with Team Pear all be it last minute after having an in person meeting together we made some great progress. As a team we decided to have ultimately two designs first being our Plan B Design something that is simpler and more "functional" using the rotary potentiometers included in our Arduino Uno kit we decided to use them acting as the directional controls for our sumo bot. This accompanied with the transmitter created a simple controller design. After our meeting I went ahead using my Arduino Uno and TWO half sized breadboards created a mock up of said design.
However we also setup a design inspired by our project 07 in the project book using switches to create an instrument we thought of assigning each button each key would operate an action being front, back, left, or right. As well as an additional button chosen for acceleration. This would turn into our concept for our own little musical controller having two musicians on our team is starting to make sense...
After that we looked elsewhere to the internet for inspiration. We found a keyboard using potatoes. Rather than switches acting as keys they used potatoes that would react to touch, much like our project 13 assignment when the wire touches a conductive material it reacts. So using both of these concepts in collaboration would seem doable. So the real question is will we be able to swap out potatoes for pears and have it react upon touch like keys on a keyboard while assigning each key a value for movement on the sumo bot. This is our second and more "unconventional" idea.
Personally I went ahead and made the setup for our more functional controller as well as a Fritzing schematic diagram of the same controller. I am responsible for the physical build of the Arduino. We as a team are very much sharing the responsibilities of communication.
