The Zigbee part of this reference design uses Silicon Labs' EM35x chip, the industry-leading ARM® Cortex®-M3 based Zigbee SoC series, which can provide unparalleled performance, power consumption and code density in a compact package. The EM35x series combines a 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4 radio transceiver with powerful network-level debugging functions supported by hardware. These devices and tools combined with the powerful ecosystem of ARM tools enable OEMs to simplify the development process and shorten time to market. EM35x SoC is tightly integrated with EmberZNet PRO, supports Mesh and Star networks, supports intermediate routing and forwarding functions, mesh network software that meets Zigbee requirements, and is also the most widely deployed Zigbee platform on the market.
The Bluetooth part of this reference design uses Silicon Labs’ BLE module BGM111, embedded Bluetooth SMART module, pre-loaded with Bluetooth 4.1, and can be upgraded to 4.2 and higher versions. The internal integrated high-efficiency antenna can ensure the consistency of RF design operation. The communication distance is conservatively 150m to 200m.
System Block Diagram:This demo board is composed of 4 modules, which are respectively:
● Gateway: Bluetooth module BGM111+EM357 coordinator DEMO
● Route 1 (Router): Light, can be bound with End Device
● Router 2 (Router): Light, which can be extended to other types of equipment
● End Device: It can be controlled by gateway or routing, such as light control switch, dimming function, etc.
● Routing function (Router Control): The gateway controls the terminal through Route 1. If route 1 cannot work, you can control the terminal through route 2
