Cardboard Salad uses only cardboard and clear tape to represent the words: Prickly, Cold, Splat, and Boing. On last week's episode of Bravo's cooking competition, Top Chef, the Quickfire Challenge was to create a dish using prickly pears. With this as inspiration, I decided to compose a cardboard meal that incorporates foods to represent each of the four words. A delicious winter salad came to mind: dangerous but delectable prickly pears, cool cucumbers, a sunnyside-up egg, and Spam because it's the only food that might make a "boing" sound. A cardboard knife and fork can be used to prepare each of the four ingredients and toss them together in a cardboard bowl. Bon appetite.
