The Rd-03_V2 radar module is equipped with the S1KM0000 chip from ICLEGEND MICRO, featuring a high-performance 24 GHz single-transmit single-receive antenna and supporting peripheral circuits.
The S1KM0000 is an integrated FMCW radar SoC based on a radar transceiver architecture designed for high-precision millimeter-wave sensing.
FMCW (Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave) technology detects targets within a defined area and, through radar signal processing, achieves high-sensitivity motion and micro-motion detection.
The Rd-03_V2 can detect moving human bodies at distances of up to 7 meters, and determine whether there is human movement or micro-movement within the sensing area.
- Supports 24 GHz ISM band
- 1T1R antenna with a narrow beam, high resolution, wide bandwidth, and strong anti-interference capability
- Maximum sensing distance up to 7 meters
- Wide detection angle up to ±60°
- Accurately identifies targets within the sensing zone, supports customizable sensing areas to filter external interference
- Supports automatic threshold generation
Ceiling-mounted Installation
Testing was conducted to evaluate the detection distance and range of the Rd-03_V2 module. The module was wall-mounted and connected to a USB-to-TTL tool, with configuration and monitoring done via the PC software.
Parameter settings:
- Maximum distance: 10 m
- Delay time: 5 s
Due to space limitations, the farthest test distance was 7 m.
Summary:
- At short ranges (< 4 m), average error ≈ 30 cm (likely due to nearby environmental interference).
- At long ranges (> 4 m), average error < 10 cm — showing excellent distance accuracy.
Target disappearance delay time: 5 sIf no motion or micro-motion is detected within this delay period, the system determines that the area is unoccupied.
Demonstration:
- When no movement is detected during the delay, the indicator LED turns green, and the distance display reads 0 m (no human detected).
- When movement is detected, the indicator LED turns red, and the target distance is displayed (human presence detected).
Summary:The disappearance detection was highly accurate —After leaving the area for 11 s, within 5 s (at 16 s total), the system correctly switched to “no-person” status. When human movement was detected again, it promptly resumed target tracking and displayed the updated distance.
