The Direct Glazing Process consists in the application of the adhesive, normally Poliurethane, onto each fixed glass, like Windscreen, rear backlite, and quarter glasses.
The normal application of this adhesive is by using robots and dossing pumps that fill the application heads to create a bead of adhesive around the glass edges.
The robots or people place the glass with the adhesive onto the sheet metal of the car to fix it and the most important property of the adhesive is to give mechanical retaintion as well as a good sealing to avoid water leaks and wind noise.
Once the glass is attached to the car, there is no possibility to check if there is a bead gap, or discontinuity.
By using this Walabot, we can try to automate sample meassurements through the opaque ceramic black band, to see for the poliurethane integrity or continuity.
This is a picture that show were is the adjesive-poliurethane normaally located.
By using the walabot pro, we can do and automatic inspection, as well as manual inspection when there are doubts of the poliurethane integrity or continuity, before replace the glass to apply again a good sealing bead.
This will avoid customers complains related to small gaps in the sealing bead that can cause water ingress or wind noise.
Currently all car manufacturers use poliurethane as adhesive around the edges of the glass and this adhesive is not visible once the glasses have been inserted onto the car in the body apertures.
