For the base of the project, I used a 3mm acrylic sheet. You can also use plywood, PVC sheet, or any strong, flat material depending on what you have available.
To ensure the tool sits firmly and doesn’t slide around during use, I attached 4 small rubber bushes (or rubber feet) to the bottom corners of the acrylic sheet. These provide grip and prevent vibration or movement while the tool is running.
✅ Tip: You can use glue, double-sided tape, or screw-mount rubber feet—whichever suits your build style.Step 2: Fix Battery Holders and Boost Module- Fix the 18650 battery holders on the acrylic base using screws.
- First, drill holes at the holder’s screw points, then secure them with small screws.
- Place the boost (step-up) module on the side of the battery holders.
- Attach the boost module using glue, tape, or screws, as per your design.
- Connect the battery holder’s negative (-) terminal to the boost module IN– terminal.
- Use thick copper wire for connections.
- Bend the copper wire neatly for a clean and professional appearance.
- Take the motor speed controller module and align it on the acrylic base where you want to fix it.
- Mark 4 holes according to the controller’s mounting points.
- Drill 4 holes carefully in the acrylic sheet.
- Insert screw spacers (nylon or metal) into the holes for proper height and airflow.
- Apply a small amount of strong glue under the spacers to hold them firmly in place.
- After the glue is fully dry, place the motor controller board on top of the spacers.
- Secure the controller with screws through the board into the spacers.
- After fixing the motor speed controller, begin wiring the power input.
- Connect the OUT– terminal of the boost module to the – (negative) input of the motor controller.
- Connect the OUT+ terminal of the boost module to the + (positive) input of the motor controller.
- On one side (either boost module or controller), use a screw terminal connection.
- On the other side, directly solder the wire for a secure and permanent connection.
- Use thick copper wire for high current flow and reliability.
✅ Tip: Double-check polarity before powering the circuit to avoid damage.
Step 5: Connect ON/OFF Switch to Boost Module- Take the positive terminal (+) wire from the 18650 battery holder.
- Solder this wire to one pin of the ON/OFF switch.
- From the other pin of the switch, solder a wire to the IN+ terminal of the boost module.
- This allows you to control the power flow to the boost converter using the switch.
- Fix the ON/OFF switch onto the acrylic base using strong glue (gum) to hold it firmly in place.
✅ Note: Make sure the switch is placed where it’s easy to access.

Step 7: Fix the High-Speed Motor Using Pipe Clamp- Take a suitable high-speed DC motor for your mini Dremel tool.
- Use a pipe clamp (metal or plastic) that fits tightly around the motor body.
- Place the motor on the acrylic base in your chosen position.
- Position the clamp over the motor and mark the clamp’s side holes on the acrylic sheet.
- Drill holes at the marked points on the acrylic base.
- Use small screws to fasten the clamp securely onto the acrylic.
- Once screwed in, tighten the clamp firmly to hold the motor in place without movement.
✅ Tip: Make sure the motor shaft is facing outward and aligned properly for attaching drill bits or accessories.
Step 8: Connect Motor to Motor Controller Output- Cut and shape two thick copper wires neatly to match your layout for a beautiful and clean look.
- Connect one copper wire from the Motor Controller OUT– terminal to the motor’s – (negative) terminal.
- Connect the second copper wire from the Motor Controller OUT+ terminal to the motor’s + (positive) terminal.
- On the controller side, use screw terminals for easy connection.
- On the motor side, directly solder the wires to the motor terminals for a solid connection.
- Ensure the wires are shaped and placed neatly to keep the design compact and professional.
✅ Tip: Test motor polarity—if it spins in the wrong direction, just swap the wires.
Step 9: Install Type-C Battery Charging Module- Take the Type-C battery charging module (with protection).
- Place it on the acrylic base near the 18650 battery holders, as shown in your layout.
- Use strong glue to firmly fix the module onto the base.
- Connect the – (negative) terminal of the battery holder to the B– pin of the charging module.
- Connect the + (positive) terminal of the battery holder to the B+ pin of the charging module.
- Use thick copper wire, bent cleanly, to make neat and reliable connections.
- Make sure all joints are well soldered for safety and performance.
✅ Note: Only connect the B+ and B– pins of the charging module directly to the battery—not the OUT terminals.
Step 10: Final Assembly and Finishing- Insert the high-drain 18650 batteries into the battery holders carefully, ensuring correct polarity.
- Use a small screwdriver to adjust the trimpot on the boost module and set the output to 12V (if needed for your motor).
- Attach a suitable drill chuck to the motor shaft.
- Tighten the chuck using the provided key or locking tool to ensure it grips firmly.
- Finally, close all open sides of the structure using cut-to-size clear acrylic sheets.
- Use strong glue to seal the panels in place and give the build a neat, transparent, and modern finish.
✅ Result: A compact, transparent 2-in-1 rotary tool and mobile charger that’s both stylish and functional!
Step 11: Attach Potentiometer Knob & Flexible Shaft- After inserting the 18650 batteries and setting the boost voltage, rotate the knob on the motor controller’s potentiometer to test and control the motor speed.
- Attach a flexible rotary shaft to the drill chuck already fixed on the motor shaft.
- On the other end of the flexible shaft, make a hole in the acrylic side panel for the shaft to pass through.
- Fix the shaft’s outer casing firmly to the acrylic sheet using strong glue, so only the inner rotating shaft moves, and the body stays fixed.
- This allows you to use the rotary tool like a pen, while the motor and electronics stay safe inside the case.
- After inserting the 18650 batteries and setting the boost voltage, rotate the knob on the motor controller’s potentiometer to test and control the motor speed.
- Attach a flexible rotary shaft to the drill chuck already fixed on the motor shaft.
- On the other end of the flexible shaft, make a hole in the acrylic side panel for the shaft to pass through.
- Fix the shaft’s outer casing firmly to the acrylic sheet using strong glue, so only the inner rotating shaft moves, and the body stays fixed.
- This allows you to use the rotary tool like a pen, while the motor and electronics stay safe inside the case.
- First, turn ON the main power switch to activate the circuit.
- Then, turn ON the motor speed controller using its built-in switch (if available).
- Use the rotary knob on the speed controller to adjust the motor speed as needed.
- Now you’re ready to use the tool for various tasks like:
- Cutting
- Drilling
- Grinding
- Polishing
- Engraving
