We have all been there. You have a brilliant idea for a project—maybe a voice assistant or a smart home controller. You grab an ESP32, a display, a battery, and a handful of jumper wires. You spend hours wiring it up on a breadboard. It works... more or less.
But then, you put it in your backpack. By the time you take it out to show a friend, the wires are loose, the screen is flickering, and the magic is gone.
I built Kode Dot because I wanted to solve this. I wanted a device that respects a maker's time. A robust, pocket-sized platform that helps you go from idea to project in minutes.
More Than Just Hardware: The Kode Dot PlatformAt its core, Kode Dot is powered by the ESP32-S3, but it is not just another dev board. It is a complete ecosystem designed for AI, HardwareHacking, and IoT.
We didn't just want to give you a chip; we wanted to give you an experience. That’s why we created KodeOS.
- App-Like Experience: No need to re-flash your board to use another script. KodeOS allows you to navigate menus and run different applications instantly.
- AI-Ready: With a built-in Microphone and Speaker, Kode Dot is ready for TinyML, voice recognition projects, or connecting to LLMs like ChatGPT via API.
- Visuals: The 2.06" AMOLED Display offers deep blacks and vibrant colors, making your interfaces look professional, not like a prototype.
Kode Dot is designed to interact with the world so it includes:
- NFC/RFID: Read tags, access cards, or interact with smart packaging.
- Infrared (IR): A built-in blaster to control legacy devices like TVs and AC units.
- Programmable GPIOs: We kept the headers accessible. You can still plug in servos, sensors, or custom circuits if you need to. It’s a tool for makers, after all.
The base Kode Dot is perfect for physical computing. But for the Hackers and Geeks among us, we wanted to go further. We wanted to see the invisible waves that surround us.
Introducing the Hacking Module.
This module snaps into the top interface and instantly upgrades Kode Dot into a multi-band radio station. It doesn't just add one radio; it adds the "Holy Trinity" of connectivity:
- Wi-Fi 6 (ESP32-C5): This is a game-changer. Standard ESP32s are blind to 5GHz networks. By integrating the C5, Kode Dot can now scan, analyze, and connect to modern 5GHz Wi-Fi, giving you a complete picture of the network environment.
- Sub-GHz Transceiver: Essential for the "Internet of Old Things"—garage openers, weather stations, and alarm sensors that communicate on lower frequencies.
- 2xNRF24: Opens the door to proprietary 2.4GHz protocols used by wireless mice, keyboards, and drones.
While the RF features are incredible, don't forget that at its core, Kode Dot is a powerful, ESP32-S3 platform designed for pure creativity. It's not just a tool; it's a blank canvas for makers, hackers, and geeks.
Because we kept the GPIOs accessible and packed it with audio and visual hardware, you are not limited to just network analysis.
Here is just a fraction of what you can build:
- Physical Computing & Robotics: Break out the breadboard! Use the programmable GPIOs to control motors, drive servos, read custom sensors, or build the brain of a small robot.
- AI Voice Assistants: Combine the built-in microphone, speaker, and Wi-Fi to create your own smart speaker. Connect to OpenAI or local LLMs to build a personal assistant that lives in your pocket.
- Retro Gaming Handheld: The vibrant AMOLED screen and onboard buttons are perfect for coding your own games or porting classic retro titles. Yes, it runs Doom.
- Advanced IoT Hub: Build a super-smart home controller that not only talks to the cloud via Wi-Fi but can also directly control older devices via IR or act as a central dashboard for your data.
- Push the Limits: An ESP32-S3 hosting a tiny Minecraft server? A portable Bitcoin ticker? A cyber-fashion wearable? If you can dream it up in code, Kode Dot is the fastest way to build it.

Open Source & CommunityWe believe that hardware should be open. Kode Dot is designed for you to hack, modify, and improve. We provide the sturdy hardware and the operating system; you provide the creativity.
Whether you are a developer looking for a portable console, a hacker wanting a pocket-sized analyzer, or a maker who just wants to build cool stuff without the wire mess—Kode Dot is for you.
